What are company formation documents?

These are required to verify your business as part of the Adro Business account opening process.

Updated over 3 months ago

In order to apply for an Adro Business account, your company must be registered in the US. As a founder/business owner, you don’t need to live in the US or be a citizen yourself.

What company documents do I need?

To open an Adro Business account, you'll need to provide:

  • Your company's formation documents (such as your Articles of Incorporation)

  • An IRS-issued EIN document, such as: Form CP575, Form 147c, completed SS-4, or a screenshot of your EIN number confirmation from the IRS website

You will also need an international passport or government-issued ID for each founder or majority owner of the company. ID documents should contain your photo, date of birth, issue and expiration dates, and identification number.

What are company formation documents?

Company formation documents are essential for establishing your business legally and are often required when opening a business account in the US.

Your company formation document must include your first and last name, company name, date and US address. It must be either:

  1. An original PDF file downloaded from an online account manager OR

  2. A clear photo or scan of a printed, physical document that was mailed to you

Here are the types of company formation documents we accept. You'll be asked to submit at least one of these documents to help verify your business:

Articles of Incorporation

These are legal documents filed with a state government to legally establish a corporation. They include essential information such as the company's name, purpose, and structure.

Articles of Organization

These documents are used to form a Limited Liability Company (LLC) at the state level. They outline the company's name, address, and the names of its members, and establish the rights and responsibilities of the members.

Partnership Agreement

This is a legal contract between business partners that defines their roles, responsibilities, and how profits and losses are distributed. It helps prevent disputes and protect each partner's interests.

Certificate of Formation

Also known as a Certificate of Organization, this document is filed with the state to officially create an LLC. It includes basic information about the LLC, such as its name, address, and purpose.

Secretary of State Registration Page

This is the official website where you can file the necessary documents to register your business with the state. It's where you submit documents like Articles of Incorporation or Articles of Organization and pay any required fees.
