How does Adro help build US credit history?
Updated over a week ago

You can build US credit history when you open an Adro Credit Card, also known as the Adro World Mastercard.

US credit bureaus, such as Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, will match your name, date of birth, address and other information to your Adro payment history. A Social Security number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) makes it easier to report your credit history accurately, but it isn’t required in order to open an Adro account.

What's a credit score? What's credit history?

A credit score (sometimes called FICO score) is a credit risk rating assigned to your profile. This ranges from 300 to 850. When you apply for a loan or credit card, lenders look at your credit score to determine whether they want to loan you money. Credit scores do not transfer from one country to another.

An average American typically has a credit score between 600-700, and a good credit score is usually above 700.

Credit history refers to a record of your financial activities, including your bill payment history, current debt such as existing credit card balances or other financial loans.

Why is building credit important?

Most international students and workers arrive in the US without any credit history. Unfortunately, this lack of credit can make it difficult to secure rental housing, get approved for a car loan or even start a cell phone plan. A higher credit score allows you to access better interest rates and additional loan products, which can make borrowing more affordable.

The sooner you can start building credit in the US, the better.
