How does my spending limit or credit limit work?
How does my spending limit or credit limit work?
Updated over a week ago

Your spending limit on the Adro World Mastercard (Adro Credit Card) is equal to the amount of money in your Adro Credit account. This is called your 'Available to spend' and you can view this by logging in to your account anytime.

Example:

If you deposit $2,500 into your Adro Credit account, you can make purchases adding up to a total of $2,500 as your spending limit on your Adro Credit Card.

If you make a purchase of $1,000, then your 'Available to spend' changes to $1,500 ($2,500 from your original deposit, minus the $1,000 purchase). If you make another purchase of $575, then your 'Available to spend' drops to $925 ($2,500 - $1,000 - $575 = $925).

Any purchases you make are viewable in your transaction history.

How do I view my transaction history or 'Available to spend'?

To view your credit card transaction history or 'Available to spend':

  1. Login to your account

  2. Click on your Credit account

  3. Your 'Available to spend' balance is at the top, or scroll down to view transaction history

Each Adro account has its own transaction history view. Purchases made on your debit card are visible only from your checking account. Purchases made on your credit card are visible from your credit account.

Why doesn't my transaction history match up to my 'Available to spend'?

Your 'Available to spend' balance includes pending and posted transactions.

Pending transactions are reflected in your 'Available to spend' balance instantly. However, it can take up to 1-2 business days to post in your transaction history. Once a transaction is posted, it is considered complete.

If I add money to my Credit account, does my spending limit increase instantly?

It depends on where you are moving money from, and when the funds are posted to your account.

When money is posted to your account, it means the transaction has been officially completed, and is no longer pending. The funds have either been deducted from your account (for expenses) or added to it (for deposits).

From Adro Checking or Adro Savings: This is quickest option. When moving money from either of these accounts to Adro Credit, your spending limit increases instantly.

From a linked external bank account: This is the second quickest option. It takes up to two business days for the money to be posted in your Adro account.

Through wire or international transfer: This depends on your service provider, and can take between one to five business days.

If you're worried about not having enough in your 'Available to spend' on your Adro Credit Card, we recommend adding money to your Credit account a few days before making any major purchases.

Is there a difference in 'Available to spend' between my physical and virtual Adro credit card?

No. Purchases made from your physical and virtual Adro credit card are tracked in the same Credit account, and both will reduce your 'Available to spend' amount.

What happens if I make a purchase that's more than my 'Available to spend'?

Your transaction will be declined. Not to worry though, we don't charge any fees or penalties for if this happens.

You can simply add money to your Credit account to increase your 'Available to spend' amount on your credit card.

Is it better to use my Adro Debit or Adro Credit Card for purchases?

In general, we recommend using your Adro Credit Card to make purchases:

  • You'll earn 1% cashback on any purchases

  • You can build US credit history

  • You don't have to worry about overspending

With the Adro Debit Card, you don't earn 1% cashback or build US credit history as you use the card.
