How do I verify my address?
How do I verify my address?
Updated over a week ago

To verify your US address:

  1. Login to your account

  2. Navigate to 'Settings', then 'Profile', then 'Personal details'

  3. Follow the instructions to upload a PDF file or photo (JPG or PNG)

  4. Once submitted, you'll receive an email within 24 hours letting you know if your document has been accepted, or if you need to try again.

What can I use as my proof of address?

Your proof of address must include your first and last name, date and US address. It must be either:

  1. An original PDF file downloaded from an online account manager OR

  2. A clear photo or scan of a printed, physical document that was mailed to you

Examples include:

  • Internet or phone bill

  • Utility bill (such as for electricity, water or gas)

  • Lease or rental agreement

  • Insurance policy or bill

  • School enrollment documents (I-20 forms are not accepted)

When looking for a proof of address document, you can use the questions below as a quick check before submitting. (You'll want to answer 'YES' to all questions)

  1. Does the document include your first and last name?

  2. Does the name match what is in your Adro profile?

  3. Does it include a date? Is it within the last 6 months?

  4. Does it include your US address?

How long does it take for my proof of address to be reviewed?

In most cases, you will receive an email within 24 hours letting you know if your document has been accepted or declined.

Why was my proof of address declined?

Here are the most common reasons why your proof of address may have been declined:

  • The image was not clear or legible

  • Your first and last name or address doesn't match what is in your Adro profile

  • It isn't an original document from a service provider

Why do you need my US address?

Federal regulations require that we ask you for this information. The US address must be a residential address at which you ordinarily live at and can receive mail.

In the US, your residential address and mailing address can be the same or they can be different. Most US banks and financial services companies, including Adro, require a US residential address and proof of documentation (such as a lease, mortgage documents or utility bill). You can have a separate mailing address if there is a different location where you securely receive packages and mail.

If you rent or live on a university campus, those addresses are both accepted. You do not need to own the property in order to list it as your US address.

Can I use a mail service, such as a PO Box (post office box) or PMB (private mailbox)? What about a storage unit?

No. Your US address must be a residential address at which you ordinarily live at and can receive mail.

Can I open an account without a US address or proof of address?

You have the option of opening an account and making deposits with Adro using a non-US address. However, in order to unlock full account functionality (spending and withdrawals) you will need to add and verify a US address.
